MEATBALL SLIDERS

 

PREP TIME: 30 minutes
SERVINGS: 12 sliders

These manly yet mini meatball subs will be the highlight of any game day spread!


INGREDIENTS: 
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp red pepper flakes
¼ cup breadcrumbs
3 T grated parmesan cheese
2 T flat-leaf parsley, chopped
2 large eggs
1 garlic clove, minced
3 T olive oil
¼ cup onion, diced
12 oz. Jam Jar Marinara Sauce
12 dinner rolls
1 cup shaved mozzarella
12 large basil leaves


DIRECTIONS: 
Preheat oven to 400°F.

Combine beef through garlic with ½ tsp each of salt and pepper in a large bowl. Mix together well and then roll into about 12 golf ball sized portions.

Heat 2 T oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onions until softened, about 2 minutes and transfer to a plate. Heat the remaining oil and add the meatballs, turning until browned all over and cooked through, about 3 minutes.

Pour the marinara sauce in the pan and add the onion. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

Split each dinner roll and arrange bottoms on a baking sheet. Top with basil leaf, meatball patty, Jam Jar marinara sauce, shaved mozzarella slices, and top bun. Bake until cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.
