Shiraz Boozy Berries

Recipe by Kasim Hardaway

PREP TIME: 40 minutes
SERVINGS: 4-6 Servings

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz
¾ cup granulated white sugar
3 cups favorite berries (This recipe used 1 cup blueberries, ½ cup blackberries and ½ cup diced strawberries.)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small pot or sauce pan, mix sugar and JJ Sweet Shiraz over medium high heat until a low boil mixture reaches a low boil. Reduce heat and add 1 ½ cup of desired berries. Mash fruit until puréed. Allow mixture to simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce is ready once it is thick enough to coat a mixing utensil.

  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring to a container. Sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Use sauce as a topping for pancakes, waffles, ice cream or lather on freshly toasted bread.
